Kaptein Coffee Launches Small Batch Coffee Collection Featuring High-Caffeine and Functional Mushroom Blends

Kaptein Coffee has launched a new line of small batch, responsibly sourced coffees, introducing six unique blends designed for individuals seeking bold flavor, enhanced focus, and lasting energy. Founded by former Bering Sea captain-turned-entrepreneur Scott Sperbeck, the brand’s latest collection draws from a deep personal history of endurance, work ethic, and purpose.
Each coffee in the collection is roasted in small batches in Seattle using artisan techniques and responsibly sourced beans. The lineup includes high-caffeine options, single-origin roasts, and a functional coffee fortified with Lion’s Mane mushroom, formulated for those who start early, work late, and rely on coffee as more than just a beverage.
The new Kaptein Coffee collection includes:
-
Helm (Light Roast) – A lightly roasted 100% Arabica blend from Brazil, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. With one of the highest caffeine contents in the lineup, it features sweet notes of brown sugar and caramel.
-
Seas of Sacrifice (Medium Roast) – A Sumatra-based roast created in memory of fishermen lost at sea. A portion of proceeds benefits the Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial Fund.
-
Sip Ahoy! (Medium Roast) – The flagship blend that launched the brand. A well-rounded, chocolate-and-caramel roast designed to celebrate bold beginnings and daily rituals.
-
Maiden Voyage (Medium-Dark Roast) – A functional mushroom coffee infused with Lion’s Mane, known for supporting memory and focus. The flavor profile includes brown sugar, hazelnut, and plum.
-
Storm Warning (Dark Roast) – The company’s most caffeinated blend. Combining Arabica and Robusta beans, it delivers a smoky, bold cup with a toffee finish and low acidity.
-
Navigate (French Roast) – A single-origin Costa Rican coffee roasted to a rich, dark profile. Offers smoky notes with hints of toffee and is made from high-altitude, strictly hard beans.
Founder Scott Sperbeck’s transition from crab fishing to coffee roasting was driven by a desire to create a product rooted in resilience and meaningful work. “Kaptein Coffee is built for people who show up and do the hard things,” said Sperbeck. “Every roast tells a story of effort, grit, and the grind it takes to get through each day.”
The coffee is available in whole bean or ground to order. Free shipping is offered on all orders over $45.
